Dismissing Destiny

By D. R. DiFrancesco

~~~~~~
To face the truth
One must face what they fear most
What’s uncomfortable builds character
Strengthens every fiber of their being
You cannot grow physically or spiritually alone
Cradled in your convenient cocoon
To break out and take wing you must fall
Close your eyes
Step over the edge into the unknown
Destiny beckons you forward
Choosing to live life in a net of safety disappoints
Conceiving regret as it’s progeny
This is not living, it is merely existing
We are meant to do and become what we dream
No boundaries can contain you
Was not every great achievement born of an impossible vision
Laughed upon by those with no imagination
Dare to persevere
Do not let those of a narrow mind stifle you
Your greatness lies on the road just ahead
In this you can be assured
To Almost Touch Heaven
By D. R. DiFrancesco
Staring into an ocean blue sky,
Gliding,
Cradled in the silvery wings of a bird,
So close God,
So close to heaven I can almost touch it.
This must be what it is like to die,
What it is like to ascend into the afterlife,
Weightlessly soaring,
Song of birds a symphony,
Leading my soul skyward,
Sun warm and inviting on my face,
Clouds of virginal white clothe me,
Comforting my weary essence.
At peace,
This must be what it is like,
What it is like to almost touch heaven,
On the wings of the silvery bird.
The Vow – A Poem
By D. R. DiFrancesco
I could never find fault in you,
My soul lashed to yours won’t permit it,
Kindness envelopes your heart,
The warm inviting happiness in your smile
Blinds me to what others may see.
In my tribulation you have always been there,
Sickness and health has been no barrier,
My sadness washed away by your tears,
Nothing more could I ask of you,
All I could hope to repay, to return like kindness.
At my worst you stood by me,
Taking my hand to your lips,
A gentle kiss to reassure me,
Comforting me in your glow,
Inspiring my belief that everything would be okay.
When my strength weakend,
Bedridden and afflicted, you reinforced me,
Loving me without condition,
Honoring our vows,
Until I was strong again in my own flesh.
My friend through every storm,
I couldn’t ask for a better mate,
We are in union,
Syncronized to this lifes time,
My passion, my devotion, my love.
