A Determined Love

Kindred spirit

This love was born of the stars

Others would not hear of it

This destiny was ours

~~

Our two souls conjoined

By Heaven’s sacred bond

Through vows to be coined

In this world and beyond

~~

My treasured love

In sickness and in health

You’ve stood beside and above

Though my life eluded wealth

~~

Surely this love must be true

Were it not you wouldn’t have stayed

Illness put a stain, the cause we never knew

My trust you never betrayed

~~

Love does not abide

In passions fair weather alone

Nor does it strive to hide

From life’s pain and strife when shown

~~

Our love, my love

Is etched in stone to last the ages

Through all the push and shove

We’ve show the fallibility of sages

A Passionate Embrace

Sweethearts converge in a passionate dance,

Lovers embrace, eyes locked in a trance.

~~

Gliding on a silk and satin tidalwave,

To the other their hearts each selflessly gave.

~~

Souls intertwined in a romantic song,

Soaked in the potion of their love for so long.

~~

Their rhythm flows with each beat of their hearts,

Breaths come more rapid as ecstasy starts.

~~

Invisible to the world, it’s existence fades,

Consumed with each other their bodies obey.

~~

Observers may say their infatuation can’t last,

Their hearts disagree as pulses flutter fast.

~~

A state of euphoria envelops and besets,

Neither lover capable to resist or regret.

~~

A sensual moment shared between two symbiotic lives,

Stokes a fire eternal as their yearning grows and thrives.

~~

Those shy of passion these feeling could not know,

Concerning matters of affection they dare never go.

~~

Where love is involved it grows hot and grows quick,

Feeding the flame is the eternal trick.

~~

For romance to last the heat of passion must run deep,

Cherish and be devoted to the others heart you keep.

Committed

By D. R. DiFrancesco

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your tired eyes look skyward
Begging for comfort without so much as a word
I reach out to you
Cradling you in an embrace born of affection
Expecting nothing in return
Your head resting on my chest
Can you feel my heart beat to your touch
Like a metronome keeping rhythm with your own
Exchanging words without speaking
I can hear your sadness and sense your pain
What can I do to relieve your tortured soul
Provide for you
Offer understanding without judgement
Reassure your lingering doubts
Hold tightly to your trembling hands
I will wade with you through the melancholy tide
You will not be left alone to drown
I am here to keep you afloat when you cannot swim
Don’t be afraid my love
For I will never leave your side
My commitment is eternal
Offer of Love
By D. R. DiFrancesco
Can you hear my beating heart?
An echo in nights quiet,
A subliminal sound that you can’t ignore.
Can you feel my gentle caress?
Tender on your skin,
A chill up your spine that beckons you on.
Can you taste my loving kiss?
Soft and sweet on your longing lips,
A confection born out of passions throes.
Can you sense my warm embrace?
Enveloping your soul in romances glow,
A fire that burns white hot in an intimate affair.
All that I am I give to you,
A heart that beats for you,
A touch that longs for you,
A kiss thats deep for you,
An embrace that waits for you,
These are my gifts to you my love,
Now and forever.
To Her With Love
By D. R. DiFrancesco
Do not look me in the eyes my love,
For my intentions are seldom pure as a dove.
In constant labor to prove my worth are I,
Lest I fall from your grace wither and die.
With a gentle stoke of my cheek you reassure me,
That I am all you ever hoped that I could be.
Still I fret that my offering is not enough,
Insecurity has aged me wrinkled rough.
Yet you look upon me as if youthful and spry,
With a devil-may-care twinkle in your eyes.
And that come hither smile you so oft display,
Leaves me breathless as always in night or day.
Unworthy am I to be held in esteem,
Yet with each day I awake to find this isn’t a dream.
Should this not be what love is about,
I ponder and pray that it’s never in doubt.
Maybe, my love, in all the world you’re unique,
To have fallen for this fool with all others you could seek.
If this somehow by irony be true,
No one else could I have cherished any more than you.
For the Love of Imperfection
By D. R. DiFrancesco
Dark of night casts no shadow upon you,
Your radiance like a shield rejects the approaching twilight,
Do you recognize your own brilliance?
A resounding no projects itself to the world.
From the first time I beheld you,
Captivated by an acumen cast by the maker himself,
Sharp and heated as a solar flare,
Scorched impressions left on everyone in it’s path.
Yet surviving within your universal turbulence is tenderness,
Soft and warm drawing in those most dear,
Contrary to your impetuous past,
You shine your bronze rays on all that surrounds you.
You are stellar and strong,
Divine in your organic beauty,
Any change would make you less than who you were meant to be,
Perfect in your humanly flawed design.
Oneness
By D. R. DiFrancesco
A single candle,
A dimly lit room,
Your face,
A flickering mix of light and shadow,
Still I would know you anywhere.
My fingers trace your silhouette,
I recognize every curve,
Committed to memory as if they were my own,
A map of the life we have lived together.
Is this not what love is?
Two souls conjoined,
Hearts beating in like rhythms,
Indistinguishable from one another.
Yet we are opposites,
In nearly every way dissimilar,
Inexplicably attracted though,
Balancing on a razors edge.
You turn to me,
The warmth of your breath caresses my ear,
Your tender moist kiss envelops me,
At once I am yours and you are mine.
We are one.
In Trouble…Again
Tracing careful steps,
I can see you are upset.
I touch your hand,
Gentle and caring but you pull back.
My gaze tries to meet yours,
But you look away.
A tear traces a sorrowful line down your cheek,
Reaching to wipe it away you slap my hand.
Your silence echos louder than words ever could,
In typical fashion I struggle to discover what I have done.
Is it something I said, something I did?
For God’s sake I’m not a mind reader!
This dance of wills goes on and on,
Resigned to the fact that I will lose,
No give or take just a cold shoulder and I’m to blame.
Bizarre and yet comical,
Juvenile in it’s pettiness.
Looking back these squabbles always make us laugh.
Maybe I had too much to drink,
Maybe I told a story that she didn’t want me to tell,
Or maybe I forgot her birthday,
This only happened once,
Fortunately she is forgiving.
It could be attributed to male ignorance I suppose,
Does this dissolve me of blame?
Yes…until the next time.
Sadly there will be a next time,
Confident in my shortcomings,
I will take up residence in the doghouse once again.
The Vow – A Poem
By D. R. DiFrancesco
I could never find fault in you,
My soul lashed to yours won’t permit it,
Kindness envelopes your heart,
The warm inviting happiness in your smile
Blinds me to what others may see.
In my tribulation you have always been there,
Sickness and health has been no barrier,
My sadness washed away by your tears,
Nothing more could I ask of you,
All I could hope to repay, to return like kindness.
At my worst you stood by me,
Taking my hand to your lips,
A gentle kiss to reassure me,
Comforting me in your glow,
Inspiring my belief that everything would be okay.
When my strength weakend,
Bedridden and afflicted, you reinforced me,
Loving me without condition,
Honoring our vows,
Until I was strong again in my own flesh.
My friend through every storm,
I couldn’t ask for a better mate,
We are in union,
Syncronized to this lifes time,
My passion, my devotion, my love.
Loves Transformation
By D. DiFrancesco
Fires burn,
They start out white hot
Then cool to a shimmering blue.
It’s not that the flame has diminished
The passion still glows, but its appearance changes with time.
We find comfort in one another, by being in each other’s presence.
A look,
Says more than words ever could.
Nothing can be said that you haven’t already heard.
Love, anger, sadness, all my feelings expressed in a glance
Sometimes I think you know me better than I know myself.
Maybe you do after all these years.
A caress,
Something tender and sweet
Your warmth, skin against skin, your beauty
Isn’t it fascinating how each of life’s seasons seems frozen in time?
My vision of you, still a twenty-something
So precious to me because of the spirit that is you.
Our lives,
The bond we share through adulation
Through friendship, endearment, and adoration
We have become one.
That nothing in heaven or earth can decimate.
My best friend, mate, and truelove for all eternity.
