A Wise Man I’m Not

A wise man I’m not

I’m foolish and foolhardy

When least opportune

This is my mortal nature

That even booksmarts can’t cure

It isn’t so bad–

Really what else do I have

I am who I am

Perfect in spite of the faults

Endowed by my Creator

Wildflowers Grow (Tanka)

Wildflowers grow

Their seeds know no boundaries

Showing perfection

O’ the strength in their beauty

And the lessons we could learn

How Intricate The Knots

How intricate the knots,

The thread so delicate,

I scarcely ever noticed before.

How often had I torn them down

Treating them as a nuisance.

Perhaps out of ignorance,

Perhaps out of misplaced fear,

Picturing a threat where one did not exist.

Without prompt I stopped in my tracks,

Marvelling at this masterpiece

Spun from the lowly spider.

Her web so unlike the tangles of man,

Perfect and symmetrical,

Designed with a divine purpose.

Not to deceive…nay,

But to live and to feed

As the Creator intended.

Sky–Canvas of Blue (Tanka)

Sky–canvas of blue

The sun paints with golden hues

Nothing left to chance

Perfection in its glory

Mother Nature’s finest work

Brilliant Stars (Shadorma)

Brilliant stars

A sliver of moon

Magical

Perfection

I can see heaven from earth

What could be better

Does The Grass Strain To Grow (Tanka)

Does grass strain to grow

Fighting against its nature

No–it simply sprouts

Doing by perfect design

Just as we are born to do

Would You Know

Would you know day were it not for night?

Would you know joy were it not for sadness?

Would you know love were it not for hate?

Would you know good were it not for evil?

Would you know right were it not for wrong?

Would you know the feminine without the masculine?

Positive would be nothing without negative?

Negative would be nothing without positive?

Things would simply be,

Unrecognizable from another.

Think of all that would be unknown.

Without this duality

The perfect would be imperfect

And all would cease to exist.

I Am Resigned

I am resigned…

That I am but a drop in the greater waterfall of humanity.

Yet without me the waterfall would be incomplete.

Regardless of how seemingly insignificant

I am integral to this perfect design.

I take comfort in knowing that this world would be a different place without me.

World events today, our history would not be the same,

Nothing that is happening

Or has happened in this lifetime

Would have occurred precisely the same way without my existence.

What we do,

The love we emit,

The hearts we touch,

Ripple out into the world at large

Affecting everything and everyone.

Yes, I am resigned…

That I am but a drop in the greater waterfall of humanity,

But I am never discouraged.

Anger Taints – A Haiku

Anger taints the mind

Blocking mirrors reflection

Disguised perfection

~

Skin Deep

Perfection, clear to the beholders eye,

At times, going no further,

Stopping skin deep, superficial.

A smear of makeup, of blush, of rouge,

Lipstick strewn with clown-like abandon,

A caricature of what others see.

Every reflection,

Distorted by fun-house mirrors,

Diffusing into an abomination.

Painted by marketing’s ideal,

Airbrushed, made-up, impeccability,

Attempts to compete are fruitless.

Challenging imagination is no competition,

You my love have already won.
