Broken by living
An old man lies fetally
Praying for his death
Torturous life on the street
Trades its mercy for your soul

Summer’s heat, July
Birds…bees sing their joyful songs
By nature’s design.
Sadly we too oft’ ignore
Beauty that lay before us.
Distracted by life
All just to try to survive
We get very lost.
Perhaps if we took a step back
What we’re missing would be found.
Look to the sky, grass,
Look to the simplicity in life
For what’s important.
This is what Mother gave us
To keep from going insane.

Teach me if you must
Lessons like this are hard learned
Bloody and brutal
I expected nothing less
For having used my free will

We have forgotten!
The New Deal has been destroyed
And we don’t see it.
Social Security and
Medicare under attack.
Cleverly disguised
By the “old standby”…tax cuts
They try to bankrupt;
Forcing the extinction of
Our long beloved safety nets.
When will we wake up!
The middle-class is dying,
While privilege thrives.
When we are homeless and sick
Maybe then we’ll remember.

Shhh, can you hear it
The beating of your own heart
Is it not soothing
Like a classic masterpiece
Chasing silence to be heard
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
Thirst stinging my throat;
Dust and grime choke me of air.
Breathing is labored.
Thirsting for an oasis
I will drink sand to survive.
Could this be blind faith,
Utopia found in sand;
Trusting you’ll be quenched?
Isn’t this what religions
Teach is the only path to God?

Babies innocence
What do they see in their dreams
Whimsical smile
To be so naive again
Oh how I wish it could be
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
Crack…sound of thunder
Explosion like fireworks
Honoring nature
Rain…confetti showering
Crystal sparks upon the earth
What is more lovely
Than the beauty and power
Of Heaven above
She pauses to remind us
When we get too arrogant
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
Feeding our winged friends
They share our vegetables
Grown for both of us
We have more than we can use
So we offer them love
