Godlessness

I do not question the existence of God,

I question the existence of godlessness

Ever so pervasive in this hedonistic world.

So sure am I that even the inattentive cannot be blind,

Look around you, everywhere around you,

Do you not see the mountains, oceans, rivers, flowers,

Do you not see the sun, the moon, the stars above,

Do you not see your mother, father, wife, children?

All right before you,

Shining examples of the goodness of the Creator.

Step back, for just a moment, from the materialism that cripples you,

Look to the sky,

Feel the sun on your face,

Smell the fragrance of a rose,

Embrace those that you love,

These are all gifts from God,

Not to be taken for granted,

Not some random creation, weird science or cosmic coincidence.

Beauty lies all around you as it alway has,

If only you will open your eyes,

Open your hearts,

Open your minds,

To the greatness of the Maker.

Model Of Perfection

Cascading waterfalls,

Feed by mountain snows,

Sculpt masterpieces,

On a canvas of faceless stone,

Meticulously perfect,

Timeless in their artistry,

Mother’s brushes and chisels,

Water, wind and sand,

Do what the masters could never do,

Hobbema- Rembrandt paint pretty pictures,

But nature did create their models,

By her own steady hand,

Exquisitely crafted and signed,

To the world with love.

Welcome Spring

Welcome sight the breath of spring,

Air so clear, air so clean,

Though we claim the cloudless sky,

It floats away regardless how we try.

From Heaven above to earth below,

We only see what Mother Nature will show.

She plays on emotion- the sun so warm and bright,

Sinks below horizon- we hold with all our might.

To no avail we say goodbye to the day,

Not to have it any other way,

Tomorrow will come and a new day will dawn,

Today is here and yesterday is gone,

Sun comes up as it always has done,

The birds will awake and greet us with song,

Renewal of soul does their singing bring,

As we welcome in a breath of spring.

Beauty is skin deep

Seen through the beholders eye

A soul mate for one

Night at the Symphony

The silence of sunset,

Birds return to their nests,

Resting from their day of song.

~~

Crickets rosin their bows,

Preparing for the evenings symphony,

While crowds await their glorious tune.

~~

The sun glows mandarin,

As it slowly ducks behind the shadowy horizon,

Echoing in a tense truce between diurnal and nocturnal.

~~

As the last sliver of day sets,

The orchestra begins their performance,

Breaking the uneasy silence.

~~

Eerie yet beautiful sounds of nightfall,

Originating from unseen musicians,

Thrill their awestruck audience.

~~

Wondrous are the players of the night,

Talented and shy, invisible to all except the trained eye,

Hiding behind their curtain of darkness.

~~

Night is not to be feared, but cherished,

Enveloping its onlookers in the leisurely tune,

Eliciting a most restful slumber.

An Elegant Lady

1930 Duesenberg J

1930 Duesenberg J

A deep burgundy blush has come over you

An elegant lady

Your curves exquisite in their grace

Stunning in their proportion

Your eyes clear and bright as crystals

Framed in silver and gold as all jewels should be

With lines as fine as any found in Hollywood

You could grace the silver screen

And be outshone by none

Clothed in the softest of skins

Gloved in the finest of leathers

A true beauty polished and refined

Aristocratic in every way, prim and proper

Sad that your fame was so short lived

Still visions of your loveliness shine on occasion

Sparkling like a ruby

Capturing admirers at every turn

Lady Duesenberg your dignity is extraordinary

A rare breed born of a different time

And a shining example to the mediocrity of today

Lady San Estrella

Dark and exposed after eons under the sculptor’s chisel

Laid naked to the elements and the seasons

Sharp, jagged and formidable, few dare confront you

Either out of fear or rightful respect

~~

A few fools dare scale your rocky crags in quest of your treasures

Cutting deep into your subterranean veins

Drawing out your blood and secrets through violent means

Leaving hollows only to be left abandoned once bled dry

~~

Still this does not detract from the adoration of your admirers

The saguaros raise their arms to the sky in praise

Brave faced monolith, you offer comfort in spite of the desecration

Providing shelter to those that dwell under your protection

~~

Your strength and bravery are none diminished

Inspite of the riches stolen from your purse you hold your head high

Taking revenge on those with careless intentions

Showing no remorse in light of the pains you’ve endured

~~

It could be said that nature has been cruel to you

Yet you have not taken this to heart

Your life can not be counted in mere mortal years

Since you have outlived those that laid claim to your precious abundance

~~

Our prayer is that your future holds you in appreciation and respect

No more to cut and scar your rough hewn beauty

You are a wonder to behold

To be looked upon with reverence as the creator intended

Cherished One

By D. R. DiFrancesco

~~~~
A lavender haze abounds
The scent of lilac and persimmon permeates the air
What heavenly gifts to the senses
You, my love are such a treasure to behold
Bathed in these precious gifts from God
Your ivory skin soft to the touch
Perfumed in natures bounty stimulates my soul
Surely this must be Utopia
For to know you, you must be loved
In you is found serenity
A beauty deeper than the deepest of oceans
What further testimony need be professed
Than that of one enlightened by your being
It is not the physical alone
No, for that would be ensconced in the superficial
This may suffice were it not for your genuine modesty
Mere words can not portray the essence of you
As it is hidden behind a gentle facade
To ask for more would be an act of gluttony
An offence to the glory of nature
A sin against the wisdom of the Creator
You are perfection in my tired eyes
Beloved for all time
