What Color is Blood

What color is blood?

Red as crimson to the dullest eye.

When stripped of skin,

What is left but muscle, sinew, bone

Held together by a thin designer suit.

At birth we enter the world the same way.

At death we return the earth each the same.

Why is it that we vandalize each other

Throwing names, bullets and missiles,

Destroying our sacred selves?

More alike than different is the human animal,

Though ego prefers to separate.

Look beyond the skin in all its wondrous glory,

Reach for the soul deep within

Dismissing the prejudice of our senses.

Honor our sameness in peace and love

Remembering the wisdom of the sanskrit greeting

Namaste’.

We Look For Difference

We look for difference
Superiority is ego’s way
To set us apart
Superficialities–race, creed, color
Used to denigrate
Peel away what your eyes can see
Silence religion
Open your closed mind
What rushes forth from this cauldron
Blood, flesh, tears, soul
Crying to be understood
Begging to be seen as the mirror sees you
So simple to put in a simple word
Yet one that rarely escapes the lips
Said in passion
Said to our spouses
Said to our children
But one seldom shared with strangers
Love

Visions In My Mind (Tanka)

Visions in my mind

Vivid as day though eyes closed

Finally at peace

In silence I’m transported

Through joyful meditation

Under Cloud Soaked Skies (Haiku)

Under cloud soaked skies

An aimless wanderer strolls

At peace with the world

Privy to Others Conversations (Sonnet)

Privy to others conversations, my ears are burning,

Listening to the incessant feeding of negatives hunger.

Voraciously seeking the sympathy, they’re yearning,

Causing me to wince, my nerves they shudder.

~

Perpetuating hatred–conspiracy under guise of neutrality,

Practicing not what they publicly preach.

Choosing instead to live a different reality,

One that’s close-minded, but so in their reach.

Why is it that man prefers deafness, to be blind,

Rather than change the narrowness of anuninformed course.

Archaic is their thinking of the most ignorant kind,

Thinking they can change others, spewing shallow discourse.

~

If only they would look inside to goodness buried deep within,

No place could vile hatred hide, the world’s healing would begin.

Love Unspoken Envelops Me In Joy (Sonnet)

Love unspoken envelops me in joy,

Beyond words, you and I have grown.

True to the heart this is not a ploy,

Thoughts and actions my passions have shown.

.

I need not a word to know that you’re there,

Trials and tribulations have proven faith.

Through good and bad together we’ve shared,

By my side you stayed so unlike a wraith.

.

My love, love though fickle it be,

Cannot deceive once newness fades.

In you in silence your tenderness I see,

With an affection strong as balustrades.

.

Product of time is this comfortable skin,

One I would never shed to begin again.

The Puzzle

Picture perfect in pieces

Scattered by the millions,

Waiting for the collective to  assemble,

But none of them seem to fit.

We look for answers in war.

Such a primitive mind,

So narrow the thought.

Our conflicts prove coercive;

Devastation,

Death,

Disease,

Degrade us,

Subhuman.

We look for creative ways to destroy,

Enamoured by fatality

To no ones surprise

The puzzle pieces bend and break,

The puzzle pieces get lost,

Our human puzzle incomplete,

Gets  thrown on the heap.

Still–throughout our eternity

We have gotten no wiser

And have never learned to play nice.

We Belong – An Etheree

We

belong

as one with

our brothers and

sisters as we walk

this unkempt road of life

from beginning to it’s end.

Race, creed, color, orientation

do not define the person inside

they are but labels used to divide us.

Draw Near

Draw near cherished one,

To feel you close nourishes me,

Feeding heart and soul

No greater love has there been,

Than that between you and I.

The touch, skin on skin,

Warm, soft, moist, us intertwined,

Locked, passionate kiss;

Bodies tight as we become one,

One heart, one soul, forever.

Oneness

With eyes shut tight

Shuttering out distractions

While bathing in silence

Breathing becomes the world

Something so basic

So instinctual

Unavoidable

A simple complex action

To truly hear it

To feel it

All else seems to float away

The natural world becomes white-noise

Replaced by the spiritual

Who is to say which is reality

Is not the world what we believe it to be

Our souls as integral as the air

As life sustaining as water

My thoughts float as if dreams

Drifting into consciousness then out

As quietly and softly as they appeared

Until there is nothing

Nothing but the sound of me

Blood coursing through my veins

The beat of my heart

Each breath in rhythm

Energy melding with the natural

I am one with the world
