Look At Our Future

Look at our future.

Will it be one of terror

Frightening our young

Or will it be one of hope.

Shouldn’t it be obvious?

I question mankind,

So very illogical

In his foolish ways.

Repeating failed history

With the very same results.

So lets march our way

On this road to destruction

Like the sheep we are;

Believing all that we hear

Into the fateful abyss.

Circle, Circle, Circle Down

Circle, circle, circle down

Until he lands upon the ground

Landing softly, though graceful not

Tossing and turning in his resting spot

Mesmerized am I at this sacred show

By this tiny creature in final throes

Years gone by I’d have taken its life

Believing it kind to end his strife

Was this really ever my place at all

To live or die was never my call

On the Divine life and death does rest

Deferring to Him is surely best

Now I just sit and watch amazed

As his spirit enters its final phase

Never interfering or imposing my will

I watch as his little body grows quietly still

This tiny bee is no less than man

I’m certain it’s true in the Creator’s plan

So I’ll bid farewell for now my friend

Until someday we meet again

Sanctity of Life

Sanctity of life
Deepest sadness for the loss
Greatness never known

Humanity (Acrostic)

How is it that we managed to survive this long

Using violence against others indiscriminately

Maiming, killing for the sake of oil and profit

Are we really that cold and uncivilized

No excuse can convince me otherwise

I mourn the loss of all human life

Their families given little time to grieve

Yells for mercy are met with yet another bomb

This Walk Amongst The Dead

This walk amongst the dead.

This dance with mortality.

Partnered with those that believe they will live forever.

Gathering, greedily hoarding every last cent

They race to the pinnacle of their professions

At the expense of those they deem competition,

Trampling anyone who gets in their way.

Fattened as the calf bank accounts swell as do their bellies.

Designer clothes and jewelry adorn their swollen vessels.

No thought do they give to the rest of humanity;

Their fellow man is but an impedance to future success.

They have no time for them,

No time for their mates nor their children,

No time for their brothers and sisters that share this earth.

What is their endgame?

When is enough, enough?

They don’t realize that they are already dead,

Dead to the world, their mates and their children.

Paupers as they were at birth

With their final blink there will be no wealth,

No grand houses,

No designer clothes,

No jewelry;

No one will weep on their pine box.

When the last shovel-full of dirt is thrown on their grave

They will be utterly alone, naked and penniless

–Before their Maker.

We Stand In Arrogance

We stand in arrogance,

Our own world–the only world

Feeling not the pain of others.

We are removed, unsympathetic, unconcerned,

It does not touch our lives.

You cannot touch video.

You cannot smell the written word.

You cannot taste their anguish.

Too far separated are we!

It is not real though we know it is,

Allowing oceans to separate safety from reality.

Sit quietly in the warmth and comfort of your homes,

Sip your coffee, piping hot and fresh,

Enjoy the bounty of the food that surrounds you,

Sleep well in the softness of your bed,

Watch your news,

Read your paper,

Pretend that all is right with the world,

But remember distance is merely an illusion.

The Ghost Killer

The ghostly killer
Whose silent voyage complete
Rests within our shores
The price paid for our freedom
The cost of humanity
Testing fortitude
Will we practice what we preach

A New Day Begins

A new day begins,

Mine to make of as I please

Or let swallow me.

To live or die at its hand–

My only care in this world.

What choice should I make?

This should be oh so simple

Yet still I struggle.

I seek magical answers

When life stands right before me.

From Dusk Until Dawn

From dusk until dawn

I live in dreamless torment

Cold–black is my night

Where do I go in slumber

When I am invisible

I can’t remember

My travels have been wiped clean

This terrifies me

Is this what death will be like

A blackboard erased from time

Erasure (Acrostic)

Erased–blood stains and voices

Roadway washed clean by rain

Anger and outrage quelled

Silenced by media’s waning interest

Under the ground in which he’s buried roots still grow

Racism–spreading like crabgrass

Eviscerating the people of justice.
