It’s All I Can Do

It’s all I can do

To focus on this mortal life.

I know there is more,

That time is an invention,

Something man can comprehend.

To Realized Ones

Past, present, future are now.

This I desire,

Though it seems so far away.

I long to spend time seeking,

Looking deep inside

To find that unified place

Where God and I become one.

Temper Your Rage

Temper your rage toward others dear one

It blinds you and fogs the mirror.

Incapable of seeing yourself in others, hate festers,

Turning gangrenous, unable to heal.

What angers you is that which you cannot admit;

You are Siamese–connected by a tiny spark,

The spark of the soul, beyond our human frailties.

Anger, hate, race, creed, color melt away

When viewed in the brightness of Divine light.

Unconditional love takes up residence

Welcoming the essence of all into her warmth.

With this, differences can no longer survive…

And for once we can live in total peace.

Between Birth And Death

Between birth and death

Lies the place of our struggle

Pain our companion

Yet through all this there is love

Lurking beyond our egos

Unconditional

Many strive to attain It

Though few ever do

Human temptation obstructs

Luring us with its promise

Left to our own wants

This incarnation is doomed

Destined to repeat

Maybe the next time around

We will find the purest love

Winding River, You Are Full Of Stones

Winding river, you are full of stones

Each covered in the blood of hatred.

Claiming to do as God commanded

You are false interpreters of the Word,

Stoning humanity into submission.

Under the guise of love you preach–

Conversion or death your message.

Yet in Heaven your Gods are the same,

Your aggressions on earth intertwined;

Surely there is enough blame for all.

Look! Your Holy texts are riddled with violence,

Deaths of men, women and children– so graphic;

Still you have the gall to point fingers at another!

You hypocrite, you heathen, you betray yourselves!

Each of you should be stoned for your digressions

You perpetrators of hate and death.

None of you are without human frailties,

None of you can claim to be speaking for Almighty God

For that–would be blasphemy,

Yet still you proclaim to know what is in God’s Heart!

Put an end this senseless bloodshed,

“Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”,

And nary a stone will ever be cast again.

In This Time Of Tragedy, It Does My Heart Good (Sonnet)

In this time of tragedy, it does my heart good,

To see peoples so diverse as allies.

Evil’s terror brings unity, just as it should,

With “Je suis Charlie” their defiant battle cry.

How must it have felt staring fate in the face

When our wrath brought their final curtain call.

Surely their God, will not bring them to grace

Instead down to Hell they must fall.

What God could condone their horrible acts,

Murdering innocents over Charlie’s cartoon.

Under guise of offense, an excuse for attacks,

Their cause becomes fodder for lampoon.

So pray on this day and stand steadfast as one, for us all they cannot defeat.

To live by the gun is to die by the gun, let us hope this will never repeat.

Far and Wide, Far Beyond Horizons I’ve Looked

Far and wide, far beyond horizons I’ve looked,

Looked…looked until I glared at nothingness.

Staring straight into the gruesomeness of its face

It manages nothing but a hideous, jagged smile,

A chuckle from deep within its bowels born of hell.

I…what could I, a miserable wretch possibly do?

I am afraid, frightened of what I cannot see.

This monster is not deterred, I can feel its presence

Looming large over me, clawing at my sanity.

I can feel its steaming breath, hot at my throat;

Pulse racing, heart pounding, I tremble losing control.

Grasping the Book I raise it skyward

Screaming, crying, falling to my blackened knees.

Prostrate and bruised for a response, I wait

Yet there is none, no answer, nothing but silence.

Silence and nothingness are all that greet my tears.

I despise this hollow, sorrowful, lonely quest

Plagued with questions thicker than a locust’s swarm.

Nary an answer have I been offered all these years.

Appeasement through words written in an aged text,

My only comfort, based on a promise given in antiquity

I suppose this…this solemn promise alone,

Is the gift offered through

…Faith.

Rocky crags–purple

Reaching for sky, razor-sharp

Just to touch heaven

Do You Fear Silence

Do you fear silence?

Does the absence of voice scare you?

Do you hide behind white noise?

Do you seek shelter in the arms of music?

Do you try to drown it out with television?

What are you afraid of?

Is it that perhaps your inner voice might speak,

That the Divine might make its presence known,

That you might see into the darkest recesses of your soul

Or is it that you might come to realize that there is more out there

Than what our mortal senses reveal.

There is nothing to fear dear one;

Embrace the quiet,

Look within for the answers you seek,

Call upon the Divine for guidance,

Wrap yourself in peace and love

And know that in silence

…There is wisdom.
