Coolness of morning
Welcomed after summer’s heat
Nature’s refreshment

A hummingbird’s wings
Fast as the fleeting moment
Never to return

Patter of fall rain
Hypnotic in its rhythm
Lulling me to sleep
Warm and dry in my slumber
My soul is truly at peace

Blown dandelions
Scatter their seeds to the wind
Populating earth

From my window I look;
Trees, mountains, flowers
All manner of things stare back at me
Though seldom do I notice.
Caught between the necessities of modern life
And the blindness of adulthood,
I’ve forgotten how wondrous my surroundings.
Rushing from place to place,
Highways, freeways, traffic shifts my focus.
Technology diverts my attention,
Cell phones, computers, television, video games,
No wonder we live in a chemically induce coma.
Time to appreciate the natural world seems impossible,
Finding excuses instead to perpetuate our unfulfilling lives.
How does this make any sense?
Our time in this beautiful world is short,
Time with our loved ones is most precious.
Perhaps the power button is our best friend,
Turn it off.
That vacation time we are saving
As we edge ever closer to a heart attack…
Maybe we should take it.
Step outside, take a deep breath
And enjoy the most beautiful video game ever created
…Nature.

Morning symphony
Songbirds greet the rising sun
Beautiful alarm

To feel the soil
Rich and warm between fingers
Man planting his seed
Nurturing healthy body
With the fruits of his labor
For millennia
This was mans way to survive
Living off the land
We’ve lost our time tested path
Through the chaos–modern life

Dawn cracks the night sky
Blanketing the earth in light
Nature called to rise
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
The cool morning air
Dew clinging to window panes
How quickly things changed
Now that fall is upon us
First snow can’t be far behind

Circle, circle, circle down
Until he lands upon the ground
Landing softly, though graceful not
Tossing and turning in his resting spot
Mesmerized am I at this sacred show
By this tiny creature in final throes
Years gone by I’d have taken its life
Believing it kind to end his strife
Was this really ever my place at all
To live or die was never my call
On the Divine life and death does rest
Deferring to Him is surely best
Now I just sit and watch amazed
As his spirit enters its final phase
Never interfering or imposing my will
I watch as his little body grows quietly still
This tiny bee is no less than man
I’m certain it’s true in the Creator’s plan
So I’ll bid farewell for now my friend
Until someday we meet again
