This Love, My Love I Have Procured

This love, my love I have procured

With this cadence thumping in my breast.

~

You have shadowed my sensibilities

Keeping step with tango’s passion.

~

Nothing more could I inquire of you

Than that which you have deliberately given me.

~

Fulfilled beyond words that you are mine and I yours,

Comrades and lovers in this roughshod world.

~

So rare in this realm of disparate souls;

Failures of the heart abound in every corner,

Tear-drenched souls void of our gift,

How sad their discomfort.

~

Neither crisis nor passing shall sever our bond;

Joined in Heaven we are destiny,

Our destiny, my destiny, your destiny,

For all these many years into eternity.

~

You are and have forever been

My love,

My friend,

My everything.

Gone

The light fails me,

I open my eyes,

Hoping to see more clearly,

But there is no focus.

~

Nothing is as is should be,

My head hurts in the painful quiet,

There is no comfort,

In this cold empty bed.

~

I drove me to this madness,

And you, away in disgust,

I didn’t try to stop you,

Stubbornly shunning you.

~

Your tears did not deter,

I swore you’d be back,

How could you live without me,

After all these years.

~

But emptiness speaks volumes,

Shouting your answer,

“I’m gone!”

On my once deaf ears.

The Spark

electric

The flash of a spark

Ignites the flame within me

Glowing blue and hot

Like your soft touch, electric

Lighting the fire in my soul

Truest of Loves

Catapult my feelings to the sky

Scattered to poles by twisting winds

Revealed my heart so you may lie

Within my arms, true love begins

~

To you my words no justice do

My tongue in knots, I make no sense

Conduct portrays my emotions true

Offered up with no presumed pretense

~

I choose to pose my love in verse

Too shy to speak these heartfelt words

My love exposed, flowery and terse

In these my heart is garishly heard

~

I have no qualms in sharing my soul

It was meant at birth to be given to you

Without your hand I’ll never be whole

Through God and my faith I construe

~

Distress me no more with nary response

This agony more torturous than death

Mutter your reply, I urge you at once

Before drawing in my final breath.

Of Lust – A Tanka

A tantric passion

Born of wanton desire

Is likely short lived

When forged of the physical

But void mutual love

Solemn vow, I do’s

A Determined Love

Kindred spirit

This love was born of the stars

Others would not hear of it

This destiny was ours

~~

Our two souls conjoined

By Heaven’s sacred bond

Through vows to be coined

In this world and beyond

~~

My treasured love

In sickness and in health

You’ve stood beside and above

Though my life eluded wealth

~~

Surely this love must be true

Were it not you wouldn’t have stayed

Illness put a stain, the cause we never knew

My trust you never betrayed

~~

Love does not abide

In passions fair weather alone

Nor does it strive to hide

From life’s pain and strife when shown

~~

Our love, my love

Is etched in stone to last the ages

Through all the push and shove

We’ve show the fallibility of sages

Love in the Rear Window – A Haiku

Rear window sticker

Proclaiming, “I love my wife”

Aren’t you supposed to?

~~ D. R. DiFrancesco

These window stickers that I see all over the place bring a smile to my face.  As the husband in a marriage aren’t you supposed to love your wife?  This seems to be stating the obvious and certainly nothing that you need to advertise on you vehicle.   If it isn’t, then I missed something during my vows.  Is there nothing that we won’t stick on our cars?

Pain

In the throng,

I spied you sitting solo,

Green of the bench,

Accenting your eyes,

You didn’t see me,

Melded into the swarm,

Sadness pooled in your eyes,

Hurt by God knows what,

I wanted to be the one,

Be the penicillin to heal you,

But it was not to be,

Pain came to comfort you,

Thrusting an arm around you,

Mopping dry your crimson stained eyes,

Hand-in-hand you strolled away,

One spartan look,

Cast over your shoulder,

You knew I was there,

Without truly knowing,

But your heart was committed to another,

Committed to Pain…

Of love.

The Heart Wants

You’ve broken my heart,

Taking what’s left of me,

Grinding me up,

Tossing my ash to the four winds.

Questioning what I saw in you,

I should have listened,

Love is blind,

And so was I.

Reckless and foolish,

Naive perhaps,

But isn’t that how love is,

Without logic,

Without thought,

Utterly ignorant.

They say,

The heart wants,

What the heart wants,

In this lies the only truth.
