Though This Shell Withers

Though this shell withers

Returning to whence it came

I shall never die

Time cannot kill the spirit

For the spirit’s always been

It is eternal

Without substance to hinder

Therefore unrestrained

In this I take great comfort

That there is–eternal life

Hidden Amongst Fear (Tanka)

Hidden amongst fear

Is power and potential

If you will dig deep

Don’t look to the external

It’s been in you all along

Saplings Bend In Wind (Senryu)

Saplings bend in wind
Because they must to survive
Man could learn from trees

Happiness (Acrostic)

Has there not been enough killing, enough hate

All centered around religious faith?

Perhaps kindness and love would be a better solution;

Plying our ingenuity to the pursuits of peace and joy

Instead of weapons of human destruction.

Never has there been such a proliferation!

Ever more I believe the right path is unfettered love,

Something we are born with, but many of us lose through cynicism.

Strive to regain it and you may witness the rebirth of childlike joy.

Subtle Energy

Subtle energy,

A gift–to me from the ancestors.

My way of giving to others.

Not as the source,

But as a humble conduit.

I am minute,

A speck of something much larger.

Using the gentlest of touch

Or even none at all

Healing from the Divine passes.

Knowing energy–

Through the most mortal of hands.

Some call it evil,

The work of the devil,

But it is not, how could it be

When offered with love.

Perhaps its mystery scares them

Or perhaps it threatens their beliefs,

I do not know.

Such a strange twist of logic is this,

To dismiss something born of goodness

That can never harm.

If only all beliefs were as pure

And as in tune with nature as this.

Would not the world be a more peaceful, loving…

And less violent place.

Celestial Peace

Celestial peace
Seeps into this earthly soul
A slice of heaven
Perhaps this mortal being
Is a piece of the Divine
Not just in image
But a spark of God itself
If only we’d see

Under Cloud Soaked Skies (Haiku)

Under cloud soaked skies

An aimless wanderer strolls

At peace with the world

Darkness Blinded Me (Tanka)

Darkness blinded me
I was lost in self pity
Seeing no way out
Then I opened up my eyes
And was saved by light and love

Day Mourns Not The Night (Tanka)

Day mourns not the night
Natural is its passing
Into mystery
As man returns to spirit
So too is his fate unknown

My Struggle Persists

My struggle persists.

When confronted with belligerence I am weak;

Anger bubbles up from the depths of my soul.

Though I attempt to be as the sage,

Civil, calm, understanding, as yet I am not.

This disappoints me–disappoints me greatly,

But I have learned to forgive myself.

It is only my humanness barging through

Exposing me for what I am…a mere mortal.

Superhuman, without feelings or emotion,

I suppose not as I was born, live and will die.

Perhaps next time I will have more control,

Understanding that he who presents as my adversary

Is nothing more than my fellow man,

Ensconced with the very same emotions

That I too struggle to contain.
