Bastet and Anubis (Tanka and Haiku)

Since I really enjoy writing in the haiku and tanka forms I decided to write one haiku and two tankas for the Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie – Heeding Haiku With HA: To Egyptian Mythology Prompt.

Anubis

Anubis

Anubis (Tanka)

Souls in transition

Under sacred watchful eyes

Do not be afraid

Anubis is guiding you

Into life everlasting

~

Anubis (Haiku)

Fear not the jackal

He is not what he appears

Anubis protects

~

Bastet

Bastet

Bastet (Tanka)

Do not fear your death

Bastet protects as armor

Securing your life

You shall not be defeated

By your mortal enemies

Do You Live To Dream (Tanka)

Do you live to dream

Never feeling life’s fullness

Is this what you want

To waste the time you have here

Missing all that life offers

~

Today He Did Rise (Tanka)

Today He did rise

As foretold by the Bible

Many years ago

Still the lesson hasn’t been learned

Refusing to live in love

A Cape Of Thorns Worn (Tanka)

A cape of thorns worn

Crown of pink its head adorned

Desert grown jewel

Prickly Pear Her Majesty

There is beauty in this beast

As Dusk Settles In (Tanka)

As dusk settles in

We bid farewell to the day

Ushering in night

Not so unlike that of man

Drifting from life into death

~

~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~

At This Holy Time (Tanka)

At this Holy time

Many go through the motions

For eggs and candy

A bizarre celebration

Forgetting His death and rise

~

~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~

Skeptics Still Persist (Tanka)

Skeptics still persist

Liberal media blamed

Burdening business

Global warming is not real

Tell that to those who suffer

~

~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~

Peace Cradles My Heart (Tanka)

Peace cradles my heart

Like the arms of a lover

Both gentle and safe

Is this not what we strive for

Amongst the chaos of life

~

~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~

Spotty Weeds Dot Fields (Tanka)

Spotty weeds dot fields

Once thriving have turned to dust

Their crops memories

Images of tractors fade

Leaving us worse off

~

~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~

She Is A Fortress (Tanka)

She is a fortress

Selfishness is her master

Excluding others

With her interests paramount

Ego is her accursed name

~
