Scavenge as you must
Pick up the shattered pieces
Your heart’s on the mend
Yes, it will remain fragile
But love’s glue will slowly heal

Money is power
Survival of the fittest
And we aren’t worthy

Flowers erupt from ancient granite
Butterflies float effortlessly as if on a cloud
Hummingbirds drink of sweet sweet nectar
Caring not if of hand or nature’s bloom
How odd in this hellish landscape
The thriving and blossoming of such beauty
Living harmonious amongst rattler and scorpion
Such contradictions, these unlikely bedfellows
Each with their own Divine purpose
Who are we to question this perfection
Perhaps this is the model for man to live by
A lesson that has been before us for eternity
But we were too blind or too arrogant to see
.

I am not a wise man,
Questions–I have so many,
A seeker am I.
No–this is not a complaint.
My path is profoundly worn,
Worn by ancestors
All belonging to my tribe,
My brother humans.
Neither the first nor the last;
Others will travel this road
Leaving blood and sweat
As markers of their journey…
Of this I am sure.
I take solace in this fact
That I’ve not ventured alone.

Passionate courtship
Two songbirds blinded by love
Windowsill tango

Untold millions suffer
Necrotizing their own souls
Ideas dissolving in mediocrity
Nothing but blood and tears to show
Sometimes one needs to step back
Permitting the mind to recline
Igniting new found passion
Regret not the blankness of pages
Endure their profound emptiness
Divine inspiration is on its way

The greatest wisdom
Is not found in our speaking
But in our silence
Listen to your inner voice
And you may just learn the truth

Coptic Christians killed
No God would sanction murder
In his Holy name
Call them just what they are…thugs
Taking Allah’s Name in vain

Perfection in pain
Part of this life of learning
Unavoidable

The number thirteen,
Coincidence or karma
Falling on Friday.
Inspiration for slashers
Needing to wear hockey masks.
Then wouldn’t you know
Valentine’s Day would follow.
Now that’s frightening!
What if I got the wrong gift?
She could kill me in my sleep.
