Democracy Dashed Upon The Rocks

Democracy dashed upon the rocks

Lighthouse guide has fallen dark

Mayday, mayday calls the flock

Two by two like Noah’s ark

Captain’s crew has blindly haled

Commands barked sure to kill

Near time win will long time fail

When keel doth rupture on sill

By headwinds sail to Davy’s doom

Tsunami comes rushing in

Neither hold nor deck is safety’s room

They’ll pay for ignorance sin

Histories ne’re kind to pirate thieves

Nor saber tongued silvery fools

While innocent victims losses grieved

Their anger grows til it’s cruel

Lashing out victims surely will march

The port be their final stand

Skyward they gaze backs and necks upwards arched

Victory’s sweet and it’s grand

Criminal fools feel they’re immune

Til their pokes raise the ire and rage

Common man pushed to the brink of his doom

Turns upon captor and cage

Freedom they hail til finally set free

WIth blood on their calloused hands

Keepers grotesque lay twisted at feet

The weaker take control of the land

Postponing their fate is futile at best

They’d be better to meld with the times

Thinking this day they’ll withhold from the rest

Soon they will answer for crimes

Please Tell Me

Please tell me….

What does it look like to win?

Ideology can’t be defeated on the battlefield,

No matter how you try you can’t kill it.

You can kill its adherents,

Destroying the body, but their hate lives on.

Containment is decried as weak,

Nothing short of all out war satisfies the hawks,

Annihilation of everyone and everything their only answer.

So then, please tell me…

What does the enemy look like?

Muslim?

Dark skinned?

Light skinned?

Man?

Woman?

Child?

Young?

Old?

Sounds like the faces of the innocent and the guilty.

Can you please tell me…

How will you know your foe?

They will not come at you waving a flag.

They will not march upon your positions in perfect high-step.

They will not be clothed in matching uniforms,

Blaring their trumpets and saluting.

So tell me again…

Who is the enemy?

The farmer?

The shopkeeper?

The mechanic?

The soldier?

The school teacher?

The Imam?

The mother?

The father?

The child?

Would you have us kill every living thing just to make your point?

You rhetoric says that you would!

Someone please tell me…

What does it look like to win?

Innocent Victim

Innocent victim

Slaughtered by a cowards hand.

Men of God they’re not!

Another family mourns

A loved one lost overseas.

Constant calls to strike,

Hawks playing on sympathy;

Who is the target?

Wolves blend in with sheep’s clothing;

More collateral damage.

Teetering On The Brink

Teetering on the brink–again;

War-hawks sounding their alarm

Like the boy who cried wolf.

Prodding the populace with fear

As if they and they alone can foretell the future,

This is always their way.

They act as if violence on our soil is inevitable,

That we must strike first

Before the boogieman gets us in our sleep.

What is the endgame?

The objectives are muddled at best

Causing more harm than good.

Blaming the other side for inaction

Is their way of shifting focus,

And we believe time-and-time again.

All while their silken pockets are lined with gold

For their them and their friends.

Death is an industry like any other;

Capitalism at its finest

And we feed into their vile fare.

Rallying behind their hate and ignoring their greed

They hide behind the guise of patriotism;

O’ how blind and oblivious we are.

There is no dispute,

Barbaric acts of murder are despicable.

There is no death that can be condoned or celebrated,

Especially of the innocent.

Is this an act of war?

They are not a country.

They are not a government.

They are nothing, but criminals and murderers,

Treat them as such!

Yes, there is evil in this world!

Yes, there is a time and place for action,

But the motives must be clear,

The end must be solidly defined

And the cause must be just.

With Rage Filled Falsetto

With rage filled falsetto,

The sword they did swing.

Exuding pure hatred,

As the metal blade did ring.

Their gesture surely proved,

Cruel motives not of God.

Over all the legions of bodies,

Their evil boots do trod.

How meaningless their killings,

Of brothers of the Quran.

All others considered infidels,

In this–God’s promised land.

While radiation bleaches,

The dead down to their bones.

Plaster’s painted red,

By blood spilled in their homes.

ISIS claims their quest,

God commanded of their troops.

While really it’s about power,

And the subjugating of groups.

Capturing the palaces,

The baroque and gaudy estates.

Feasting on the finest,

On gold and silver plates.

They pledge that no longer,

Will dormancy exist.

The caliphate will rise,

And rule with an iron fist.

Every living thing,

Will cower under their command.

Geese and sheep and camel,

And the people of this land.

Sadly violence met with violence,

May be the only way this stops.

Freeing terrorized citizens

To return to their farms and shops.

While nations far and wide,

Debate their horrid fate.

One nation no matter how imperfect

Stepped in before it was too late.

We lost one of our own,

One who never fought.

We pray that your death

Will not be all for naught.

The best thing we can do,

To honor your needless loss

Is to bravely stay the course,

And win at any cost.

Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie – Wordle #22

Prompt: Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie – Wordle #22

ISIS (Acrostic)

Ignorance under a religious guise

Soiling the good name of those who follow God in peace

Inciting fear and bloodshed amongst your brothers

So you can selfishly reap the benefits of this world

Voracity for Change

In the darkened halls etched with golden finery,

Do you admit the secrets they hold,

Shrouded in the shrouds of your jeweled cassocks?

.

For how many centuries has this debauchery been veiled?

How many unchaste Satans lay in your webbed catacombs,

Venerated by the ignorant and blind?

.

This is not an indictment of the faithful, the many tended sheep in your flock,

They are the innocent men and women…and child victims,

Venerated as martyrs before the universal mother.

.

Have you forgotten your roots, roots steeped in love and in service?

Not service to yourselves for its benefit, but service to the thirsty progeny

Who you’ve nourished with scandal and dust.

.

Knowingly, the devils amongst you receive shelter…You are evil as they!

You can not hide your sins from God Almighty, you immoral men!

Utter hypocrisy flows through your narrowed veins as sacramental wine.

Your restitution rings hollow…what of the innocence you’ve so ravaged?

Your treasures buy not your redemption– for the trustful can ne’er be whole again.

You vipers!…The solemnity of your vows lay thrashed by the Reaper.

.

Heads bowed on bended knee– tears for transformation fall with no retort.

They ask not for scriptural emendation, only boundness before the Lord.

In consumptive fashion, pomp preempts substance from this Cardinal clan.

.

What mold anewed will you lay before the disconsolate altar of the faithful?

Would it not be fair to portend that there will be nothing of substance to behold?

Only time will avow your voracity for change.

.

Drawn To A Mirage

Drawn to a waterless mirage,

Sustenance proffered from behind a smiling facade,

We long for what was, the honesty, the promise given at inception.

This nation…this world, is not what they envisioned!

Never-the-less, weak-minded and self-absorbed we self-inflict

Over and over and over again.

I too have inflicted myself on more than one occasion,

Placing faith in the faithless, trust in the untrustworthy

Only to have hopes dashed to oblivion.

You also, in honest appraisal, must have done so as well.

When will we wake up to the traitorous criminality of those entrusted with the sacred,

The injustice, the deceit, the blatant prejudice toward the people?

We the people comprises every citizen,

Race nor creed nor color nor sexual orientation has bearing,

Not just for those deemed as righteous or worthy in another’s eyes.

They are us…beholden to us, answerable to us if we demand it,

But instead we cower with an air of disinterest, taking our medicine

Like good subservient children.

Who is to blame for this debacle?

They are,

We are,

We are the true culprits,

Complicit in their scheme!

Complicit through tolerance or blindness, neither an excuse.

When will we awake from our slumber to hold these servants of the public accountable

We have an obligation to the experiment, yet we have faltered.

Laziness and ignorance are our legacy,

The legacy we have created in our own image.

How sad to see our path toward the annals of history,

Strewn with the sacrifices of the fallen.

If not for ourselves, for them we should correct course,

Return to the greatness that was us,

If we still know the way.
