Brokenness (Acrostic)

Blame, cursed blame eats at the soul

Recusing the heart from feeling…loving

Oblivions incessant darkness shadows every breath

Knocking on every door selling its wretched wares

Even goodness recognized is stymied by the gauntlet

Nothing is permitted passage for fear of pain

No one is let beyond the citadel’s ramparts

Entry can not be bought as the heart’s gate is closed

Strangled by pity and destined for loneliness

Sadness ravages because we cannot let go

Padlocked Is My Heart (Senryu)

Padlocked is my heart
Protected from being hurt
Your love is the key

~~Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~

Feel Anothers Pain

Feel anothers pain

Before you too harshly judge

Called being human

Blackened Heart Draws Blood (Tanka)

Blackened hearts draw blood

Cross and careless with their words

Hate grows like a weed

How does passion turn so cold

Killing off those we once loved

Words (Tyburn)

Deepest

Saddest

Oldest

Coldest

Words cut the deepest, saddest of truths

Results in oldest, coldest reprove

Authors Note: This is one form I had never tried before.  I realize that it looks quite easy, but please know that it isn’t.  Give a try yourself and see.  I realize this isn’t perfect, but it’s a start.

Tyburn is a six line poem consisting of 2,2,2,2,9,9 syllables.

The first four lines rhyme and are all descriptive words.  The last two lines rhyme and incorporate the first, second, third and fourth lines as the 5th through 8th syllables.

Raging Storms of Emotion

Raging storms of emotion

Depressing spirits,

Letting go–while oft advised, remains elusive.

Instead we choose to perpetuate past wrongs,

Embodying our history as if the present,

Reliving it day after day after day.

This does not promote the fullness of life,

Rather it stunts our happiness;

That which is our God given right.

Healing begins with forgiveness,

Forgiving yourself…

Not for the despicable act

That which was not of your doing,

But for the effect it has on your soul.

It is not necessary to forgive the perpetrator,

They are not worthy–

Nor a requisite for healing.

This is your life,

Take it back,

Live in the light,

Dig deep within yourself,

Choose to live in the joy that was gifted to you

–By your birth.

This Modern Day (Sonnet)

This modern day doth promote looseness of lips

Easily speaking with nary a thought,

Then later in regret we come to grips

With what is proper as we had been taught.

A click of send with no recall,

Forever unleashed upon our world,

Try as we might we can never stall

The insults and hurt that we have hurled.

Nay, neither you nor I are immune;

We’re feeble and frail in our judgement moral.

Apologizing and vowing a different tune,

We beg forgiveness both written and oral.

Would it not have been best to have bitten our tongue

Forgoing the backlash that has now begun.

Time Doth Heal All Wounds (Haiku)

Time doth heal all wounds

So the unenlightened claim

Scars are permanent

Best of Intentions (Tanka)

Best of intentions

Go astray very often

When offered rashly

Acting without second thought

Can drive a wedge between friends

Emotions Cast Out – A Tanka

Emotions cast out

Like a net upon the sea

Unexpectedly

Take on a life of their own

Spiraling out of control
