Money is power
Survival of the fittest

Does shedding of tears
Show a man’s human weakness
How sad the question
Emotional detachment
Dictated by our culture

I, of spirit walk
With others on this journey
Each with their troubles
Their torment is also mine
For life is not a vacuum
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
Worry can consume
When it’s out of our control
A bold leap of faith

Life! What do you want
Beating me up ‘til I cry
Then knocking me down
Expecting me to thank you
How about if I refuse!

Trying to stay above the fray,
In spite of the traps laid at my feet.
Some have tried to tease anger to the surface;
Unreasonable requests
Rush judgments,
Poking and prodding, tools of this trade.
I refuse to succumb,
Instead I will look within for strength,
Seeking a joyful place to center myself.
On occasion failures have succeeded–
Yet I refuse to scourge myself over failings,
They are, but momentary and quickly pass.
I am above all of this minutiae,
It is nothing–white-noise lobbed to distract.
With this realization I have strengthened my resolve
And I am resolved to rise above.

I speak to you as though fragile.
Raised this way,
Its at times taken in offense
Though this is not my intention.
It is only done out of concern,
Not out of malice.

I know your strength,
Your ability to handle adversity,
You are so much stronger than I
Truth be told.
~
I stand in awe of your fortitude
For mine is but a facade,
Painted in watercolors,
Easily stormed if its weakness be known.
Yours, though transparent is ironclad,
Able to withstand any assault.
~
I am envious of you,
I am proud of you,
I am spellbound by you
And I am deeply in love with you.

Sanguine is this soul of mine,
Joyous in being, breathing, loving, all that this creation has thrown at me,
Be it pleasant or not I am thankful.
Goodness does not come without pain..this has been my experience.
I am not bitter for the anguish I have endured,
The blood I have tasted on my tongue, the bruises worn in honor,
They have strengthened my resolve,
Enhancing that which brings me solace and jubilation.
You are not alone!
This misery, your father and your father’s father before him withstood,
All for a chance to taste euphoria,
Are these not the jewels for which we spend a lifetime in search?
Dear friend, be not weary or disillusioned;
Beyond this torment is bliss– be it in this world or the next.
We, one and all, are pawns in this game,
One whose end is synonymous,
Whether rich or poor, with the victor being…
The human condition

Cast out these demons
That torture my wretched soul
Like the bane of Job
Carrying on by faith
Though physically tormented
~
Am I strong enough
A question I’ve often asked
Getting no response
I fear that I’ve been given
Much more than this man can bear
~
Destined to struggle
Though I know I’m not alone
This holds no comfort
As I wander through this world
Defending against evil
~
The mortal evil
That plagues all men from within
Instilled at their birth
Threatening to damn our souls
To the immortal hellfire

Shadows call me out
Challenging my fortitude
Terrorizing me
My desire to withdraw
Must be beaten by courage
