Eternal Mourning (A Personal Observation)

Sadness and tears, claim the soul for years…maybe a lifetime, but at what cost?

As mortals, death is the inevitable culmination of life, but this is of little consolation to the irrational minds of man.

We look to eternity…nay we believe that we are eternal to satisfy our fear of the inevitable.  Is this not simply the denial of what we humans cannot change.  Whether you believe in the Divine or that this is a life of finality is of little consequence.  We can never truly know, except by the man made belief in faith.

Look at the broken souls around you, those trapped in a cycle of sorrow and realize that their suffering is, but a test of strength, a test of their fortitude that only they can come to terms with.

It is not our place to criticize or rationalize their suffering, but instead it is our purpose here on earth to sympathize and comfort those in need remembering that we all mourn in our own way.

Angry Thorns Of Blood Red Rose

Angry thorns of blood red rose

What seething lies behind grace?

A gorgeous vessel hollow knows

Deception lives in their space.

Flawless in another’s eyes

Believing what we think we see.

Behind closed doors this angel cries

Wishing to only be free.

Prisons reveal in many forms

Hiding ugliness on the inside.

Keeping contained the tempests storm

‘Til emotions and rage collide.

Then you will see the fragile soul living with torment and fear,

Begging for mercy to fill the hole that now shows so visibly clear.

How senseless the loss

So many leaves have fallen

Man’s icy winter

50 Word Story: Wasted Life

Brochures piled upon the bed, edges rabbit-eared from years of wasted dreams; the world lay before him if only he had the time.  As a child Jim dreamt of seeing Europe, Italy, Spain, but it is not meant to be.

A lifetime prison sentence has destroyed all of his plans.

50 Word Story: Maybe It Was Time

“What what the hell do you want from me”; John screamed at his crying wife! No matter how much overtime he worked there was never enough money to cover the bills.

The only thing he could think of was that maybe it was time to cash in the life insurance.

Settle for nothing

For settling leaves you cold

And full of regrets

A Tender Kiss I Leave For Thee

A tender kiss I leave for thee

Upon thy cheek when you wake,

This day I leave on turbulent sea

Where chances are thy lover take.

Sheddeth not a sorrow-filled tear

Thine heart belongs the thee through time,

Though watery grave my end I fear

‘Tis enough to know thine heart is mine.

Pray for thee my lover pure

In this our night of last embrace,

Though parted love survives I’m sure

In memory of thy angelic face.

Thine smile comforts as farewell I bid, for journey toward mysterious lands,

Thy strength in sorrow thou surely hid, as gently you kiss my trembling hands.

Reliving the Past

Reliving the past

While destroying the present

This we do so well

Tamping down our happiness

With the pain we so relish

Feelings of Despair

Feelings of despair

Brought on by this hectic world,

Hopelessness abounds.

Could our connectedness be to blame;

Glowing screens of every shape and size?

Even in sleep there is no rest

For the modern mind will not quiet.

Discerning truth from fiction is ever more daunting

With the right and left screaming for attention.

I’ve forgotten what silence is like,

No notifications, no ringing, no television

…A simpler time.

Could it be time to power off

Leaving all things electronic black and lifeless?

It’s undeniable that those times were happier,

That families talked and people listened.

We walked with our heads up and smiles on our faces

Instead of head down and into poles.

Maybe twenty four hour news, tweets and likes are a cancer

Feasting on our teetering sanity.

I am a realist, I know the past is the past

To which we will never return,

But maybe a little self imposed downtime is in order

Just for a bit of nostalgia.
